Founded in 1925, Masonite International Corporation designs, manufactures, markets, and distributes interior and exterior doors for the new construction and repair, renovation, and remodeling sectors of the residential and nonresidential building construction market. The company’s history began in Laurel, Maryland, when a group of investors bought out the struggling wood product manufacturer Seaway Multicorp Ltd., renamed it Masonite, and started producing hardboard panels. During World War II, the firm focused on defense contracts and licensed facilities in Australia, Canada, and Italy to ramp up production of hardboard. The purchase price represents 7 times Fleetwood’s estimated 2024 EBITDA.
